Rating/odds

Default market percentage/market range

FA users can set their market percentage and market range to a pre determined setting and then just select FF5 Dry (shows dry track ratings) or FF5 Wet (shows wet track ratings) depending on track conditions. This will provide a very good guide to the best chances in the race and an accurate assessment of the horse's price.

For example in the image above, the market percentage has been set to 80 and the default market range to 3.0. This means that only those horses rated within 3 (kilo rating) of the top rated horse displays odds. Setting the percentage to 80 allows this punter a 20% margin on every horse he backs to win $100 in the race with a chance; e.g. the 6 & 7 are equal top picks and 4 is the only other horse considered a chance. Therefore the staking on this race would be:

  • $31 on Nmb 6 @ odds of $3.21 (or better) to win approx $100
  • $31 on Nmb 7 @ odds of $3.21 (or better) to win approx $100
  • $18 on Nmb 4 @ odds of $5.64 (or better) to win approx $100
  • Outlay: $80 to win $100, a profit of $20 which ever main pick wins at the stipulated odds; an overlay if you obtain greater odds.

Handy Hint: This is a good setting to use if looking for likely races to play, as it quickly shows races with only a few winning chances. Races that throw up 5 or more horses all closely rated to each other (within 3 kilos of each other's rating), tell you it's a hard race to play, with many winning chances.

Ratings to Use - User – When you use this setting, it will enable you to key in your own ratings (and thus change the default odds) by up to 4 different categories. You can edit two of these category headings by going to Functions-Options-Ratings. For example, you may want to call a category "trainer" or "owner", and penalise them according to your own figures.

Odds to use - User & Calculated. If selecting User, a new column will appear on the fields page called My Odds which enables you to key in your own odds. This column allows you to frame your own market. You can save or revert back to the original odds at any time.

By selecting both Ratings to use; User and Odds to use; User – you can edit the ratings and odds to your own settings.

Odds format – can be either fractional or decimal.
